Ransomware

Email Infected With Cryptolocker

If you have read anything about CryptoLocker or other forms of Ransomware, you are probably terrified when you see an odd email in your inbox. After all, clicking on the wrong email attachment could unleash a punishment worse than death: losing all of your files. So, how can you know which emails are legitimate and which are scams? And what does this have to do with football?

Well, before we go any further in describing what to watch for, you should make every effort to stop these types of emails from getting to your inbox in the first place. This is where the football analogy comes in.

Your defensive line should be like that of a football team. The defensive tackle should be your firewall. And just like you wouldn’t put a 90-pound weakling on the front line of your football, you shouldn’t use a wimpy home firewall as your first line of defense. Go for the big guys: a real commercial-grade firewall that will tackle viruses and malware before they get through the line.
